5 Tips for Perfect Makeup

1. Keep Your Brushes Clean
Cleaning makeup brushes might just be one of the most tedious tasks ever, trust me I get it, but its also more important than you might think. Besides the consequences dirty brushes can have on your skin, they can also seriously damage how good your makeup ends up looking. If you're using the same brush for multiple purposes or products its really worth cleaning your brush in between. Not only is this way more hygienic it also prevents you from mixing up all your products and will result in a far cleaner end result. Obviously no one has the time to go wash their brushes after each product but you can try out spray cleaners (like this one). You'll really see a difference in your makeup especially if you like to multi-purpose your brushes.

2. Use a Primer
This is a step that I, for a long time, neglected in my daily makeup routine. I'm not a heavy makeup wearer on the daily and I never had too much of a problem with my makeup moving around. I naively deduced for these reasons that I surely didn't need a primer, little did I know that it would become one of the most important steps in my routine. Regardless of what skin type you have or how much makeup you wear putting on a primer will make your makeup look so much better and last way longer. Primers vary by skin type so find one thats good for you, personally I swear by this one by Smashbox.

3. Understand Your Skin
When you hear your favourite blogger raving about their holy grail products its so tempting to run out and buy everything they recommend. Unsurprisingly, this may not be the best idea. Makeup is a highly personal thing and heavily depends on your needs and your skin type.  Dry skin types should look for hydrating products with dewy finishes and try using more cream products to avoid looking cakey or patchy. On the other hand, oily skin types might have trouble with dewy finishes and cream products and should instead lean towards powders which mattify the skin.

4. Order Matters
As I said makeup is highly personal and everyone has a certain way they like to do their makeup. On a day to day basis applying your face products first isn't too much of an issue as long as you're careful of where you rest your hand. However, the problem starts if you plan on using shimmers or dark shadows as these are more susceptible to fallout. In this case a good tip would be to do your eyeshadow first and base after so it's easy to clean up without ruining your base makeup.

5. Choose the Right Colours
This point kind of goes hand in hand with understanding your skin. Choosing the right colours for your skin tone is so important in achieving a look that suits you. Identifying your skin tone is as easy as looking at the veins on your arm, bluish veins indicate pink toned skin while greenish veins indicate yellow undertones. This helps you choose between warm and cool colours as typically pink undertones are best suited by cool colours while yellow undertones are best suited by warm colours. Warm and cool colours isn't about the colour itself but rather the shade (a warm brown would be more orange while a cool brown would be greyish). Using the right tones for you can make a huge difference in how your makeup will turn out.

Well that's all the tips from me, let me know what your best makeup tips are in the comments.
